All right, there’s been a lot of setup in this chapter, it being the start of book three and all. But while setup is sometimes necessary, it always ends…and in this story it usually ends explosively, you could say.

Zoey: Hmn. Maybe he'll give me more when he gets back.
Girii: He's not coming back.
Roger: Huh? Girii, what do you --
Girii: Later. Something's going on.
Zoey: Some kind of stealth copter landed outside the fence. If you hack their comm you'll get the alerts.
Roger: Journalist, remember? Still not a hacker.

Girii, what do you plan? Or what does Kentaro plan?
I think whatever Kentaro planned won’t be enough.
I have to wonder if that crocodile man can’t stand up and walk or if he just crawls around for the hell of it.
We glimpsed a crocodile man walking upright a few pages back in this chapter. Not sure if Kasey meant that to be the same guy or not. (I didn’t specify; I just tell Kasey to draw animal men, he takes it from there.)
“He’s not coming back.”
I interpreted that as Jacob deciding to die if necessary to take down Kentaro, which Girii read off of him. And since Kentaro is well on his way to mad god status, dying may well be necessary.
