I might boast that, during all this scene of horror, not a sigh, or expression of fear, escaped me, had not my support been grounded in that miserable, though mighty, consolation, that all mankind were involved in the same calamity, and that I was perishing with the world itself.

I should note that for most of these action scenes, I gave Michael a lot of freedom in how to construct them.  I think he has a better feel for how to compose an action shot than I do.  In book one, I would pose myself as best I could for action poses and draw from the picture…which explains why almost every character has a slight limp in book one.  🙂

Discussion (5)¬

  1. Sonja says:

    Girii, nooooo!!!

  2. Moxie Man says:

Well, unless Pakawa has an epipen on her, it’s curtains for Girii. Of course a main character needed to bite it at some point. Too bad Caera remembered to use her gun this time.

  3. Speedy says:

Not just Girii.. Fumiaki’s son too.

Though I suspect BOTH will survive somehow due to being genetically different..

  4. That behind-the-scenes note is hilarious, Remus. 🙂

  5. Unmaker says:

Oh no, someone violated orders! So the newest genocide woman is already at least partly uncontrollable. Now she fits in better.

So, the gengeneered killing machine is fast enough to dodge the bio-engineered killing machine. But Shou still has the edge in weapons. It’s not going to be a more even battle until Giri’s modifications kick in and and turn her into a neurotoxin-immune super-strength tank (with empathy good enough to use in combat).

Oh, and if Fumiaki the younger is an AI, the neurotoxin won’t affect his central nervous system at least. So it could turn into a one-on-three (inversion deliberate).

It looks like Shou is wasting ammo, but I guess that’s suppression fire. If I remember correctly, those guns can hold a lot of needles.
