Ah, comic strip writing–the ideal 21st century occupation for anyone who simply can’t commit to scrimshaw.

Chapter 12, Page 2

I’m away from home again, so I hope this page loads correctly.  Might be one of the most gruesome scenes in the story so far, not that Jacob looks fazed by it…

  1. Sonja says:

I wonder why Fumiaki is still alive… he may be an AI, but his body is human…

  2. Jay says:

If the case can manufacture/modify diseases at whim, he might have pre-prepared himself a vaccine (a weaker strain, or deactivated/killed virus).

Alternatively, Fumiaki knew about Guyaquil, and had quite free access to AI, so he might have figured out the GUS’s immunity backdoor and patched it in his clone bodies.

Not that it’ll extend his lifespan much now…

I do have to wonder, though… would AI!Fumiaki really have gone for something as simple as Ebola? No slow-acting Metamorphic Flu mixed in there to infect the aid workers with?

  3. Zamodiar says:

His aim is to kill as many humans as possible, so that is very likely.

  4. Darls Chickens says:

The computer creates a virus that infects humans.
    Revenge at last.
