Europe in its madness has now begun something beyond belief; in a time like that, one sees what a wretched animal species we belong to. I am quietly, sleepily pursuing my peaceful ruminations and feel only a mixture of pity and disgust.

Chapter 11, Page 9

Oh, sure.  Bring up the exploding horses to win your argument, Jacob.  That’s not fair.  Also, trust the journalist to be the only one who notices that Fumiaki has skedaddled…

Girii: You can't kill him just because he might...
Jacob: Explosive. Horses.
Girii: ...Okay. Maybe he is a little crazy.
Jacob: Look, I don't have to kill him. But we should restrain him, and not trust any of the tech he's invented...
Roger: Uh, should we keep an eye on him? Because I think he ran away.

  1. God of Cows says:

Well it worked, didn’t it Jacob?

  2. --jt-- says:

Seventy-five percent of the people he’s talking to here is doc’s tecnology.

  3. Jerden says:

Come on Jacob, it’s not like you trusted him in the first place.

  4. Skur says:

Damn, I had a long backlog to read up from and I didn’t see the thing with the Fumaki-cyborg coming.
Now I wonder if I’m just unattentive or whether I can put it on the early morning headache.

  5. Ryan says:

I was thinking Fumaki was a clone rather than AI, so that was news to me.

In Fumaki’s defense, the exploding horses did apparently perform their intended function!

  6. Jerden says:

But Ryan, there are saner ways!

Of course, they’re all really boring.

  7. Gin says:

I like the fact Jacob stated flat out they could restrain Not!Fumiaki instead of killing him; at least from how I interpreted his early character in this story, this is a major change from how he used to be. Awesome character development!

Also Jacob’s smug look in panel two is hilarious, for some reason.

  8. Ilmarinen says:

Explosive horses, huh? Big talk from a man who used to carry a case full of superplagues around.
