Don’t believe them, don’t fear them, don’t ask anything of them.

Chapter 9, Page 15

Jacob’s planning strategy, and so am I — for the comic in the new year.  How do I advertise the comic?  Do I release a sci-fi ebook along with the Genocide Man graphic novel?  Do I release it under ‘Remus Shepherd’, or use my real name?  I’m not sure anyone can help, but those are the conundrums I’m working on right now.  No matter what I decide it’s going to be an interesting year…

Roger: She said they're coming.
Jacob: We're inside a huge urban ruin. They won't bomb without verifying I'm here. Ah-hah. There's a surveillance drone two miles out. And a recon truck to the east.
Girii: What do we do?
Jacob: You two take the deep tunnels, the ones we blocked off. Meet me at the rendezvous point.
Roger: My editor said there'd be help at the Washington Luiz bridge.
Jacob: If there's a boat there, we could fade back into the jungle. Regroup first, then we'll try that.
Girii: What are you going to do?
Jacob: I'm going shopping.

  1. Jerden says:

    Anything he says sounds intimidating…
    I’m scared.

  2. David Cowie says:

Marketing hat ON: are you better known as Remus Shepherd, or as your real name, whatever that is? If it’s as Remus, then publish the e-book under that name. There’s no shame in using a pen name – no one holds it against George Orwell.

  3. Remus Shepherd says:

I’m “better known” as Remus only because I have this webcomic and some bad porn from the ’90s. I’d call name recognition a wash. 🙂

(And no, I am not counting alt.devilbunnies as bad porn. 😉 )

  4. Konrad says:

I only know you from IndPos, some novels, and this. You’re saying there’s porn too?

  5. Matt40000 says:

I just googled Remus Sheppard and the top result was FurWiki. Take that as you will.

When publishing the graphic novel do you want it to be associated with all the content you have produced in your current persona, given any implications it carries? Especially given that while the comic does contain anthropomorphic animals, they are not the focus (yet). I could see backlash from either side that might decrease sales.

I think I would like to buy the graphic novel but, being a student, I might not be able to. The ebook seems slightly unnecessary given that GM is a webcomic, as the only time it would be truly useful would be in a place with no internet signal.

  6. Bobbageddon says:

wait, didn’t Girii just went shopping?

  7. Remus Shepherd says:

Some time has passed, but they may be shopping for different things. The title of the chapter is ‘shopping trips’, plural. 🙂
