The art of progress is to preserve order amid change and to preserve change amid order.

Chapter 7, Page 12

It’s not even close, you know. There are about 4,000 stars visible in a clear night sky. There are over 2 million species of animal in the Amazon.

All right, we’re finished with the nighttime canopy scenes, and back to Jacob next week! Definitely looks like he has some hot times ahead…

↓ Transcript
Dahnai: Even after the advent of man...there are more species of life in this jungle than stars in the sky. I come out here to remember that. It's all about life, Roger. All good creatures worship life. Each in their own way.

  1. Jacek says:

    I love that guy!

  2. And then there are those who rejoice in life and the creations of others, because it’s so much fun to tear them down.

  3. Ming the Merciless says:

    “All good creatures worship life”
    There are exeptions…depressed people or animals(whales beachings)…death cults(boston)etc…
    A frightful example:

  4. Zarpaulus says:

    @Ming: Death cults?

  5. john courage says:

    Are they totally making out?

  6. Crowe says:

“I AM ALIVE AND YOU ARE NOT!”

  7. Ming the Merciless says:

    “@Ming: Death cults?”
What cult made them set these Boston bombs?

  8. Jago of the 7 Knives says:

Yup, they are totally “making it out”. Wonder what Roger’s editor will do if and when Roger uploads to the undernet his latest “video escapade”? Will the editor suppress the video or making it public? Or sell it in the black market? Either way, Roger will forever be remembered not only for his insightful investigative journalistic skills, but for his “animal appeal and prowess!”

  9. Remus Shepherd says:

What you’re seeing in the panels of the comic *is* Roger’s video. Obviously he’s editing some parts. We may never know what Roger and Dahnai did in that canopy — they may be just sitting and talking. Write your own fanfics. 🙂

  10. Thomas says:

@Ming depressioncomix is a “frightful example” of some sort of death worship? I got a VERY different vibe from that site – in the comics, the newsposts, and the comments. Raising awareness, helping explain the condition and providing solace, even if it’s only a: You’re not alone. Don’t give up!
That’s what that site seems to be about to me.

  11. Zarpaulus says:

@Ming: Explain exactly what you meant by “exceptions” to Dahnai’s statement. You cite depressed people and animals like you are saying that there are good people who do not worship life, but then you cite death cults who are horrible, horrible people.

  12. Mr. Ookami says:

    1st panal: Beautiful night sky

2nd panal: kind happy life view

3rd panal: DEATH FIRE CORPSES! and a very happy old man who has the best hair out of the group.

4th panal: nice moment even if they are oblivious to the GIANT INFERNO BEHIND THEM!

All in all I really liked this update.

  13. Ming the Merciless says:

There is the sad medical condition that make some beings want to destroy themselves and there the mental corruption that make degenerate beings enjoy inflicting death and suffering upon others, as with weasels, wolverines, the Boston cultists and Joey.
You are right, generally the two have nothing in common, except that the death cult have often used depressed people to blow up crowds…as you see in the news every day!(20,000 terror attacks since 9/11)

  14. Ming the Merciless says:

Depression Comics IS frightening, and I make a point of reading it to be able to detect truly depressed people from somebody with just a bad mood…as there an awful lot of suicides around here…Then you see a mangy dog sauntering by, living on scraps, all alone and happy as a lark, smiling to the world…like Dahnai is…

  15. Remus Shepherd says:

I think people are very complex, and you can’t fit them into separate categories like that. Also, psychology is not the only driver of dramatic events — political and sociological factors also intrude. So let’s not get too broad with our prejudices.

We’ll find out more about Joey’s motivations soon. (Although to be honest, he is one of the least complicated people in the story.)

  16. Ming the Merciless says:

    Jago ask:
” Will the editor suppress the video or making it public? ”
Most likely suppress it ALL just to stay alive…just as the MSM today suppress totally the following information:
    http://www.thereligionofpeace.com

  17. Moxie Man says:

“What you’re seeing in the panels of the comic *is* Roger’s video.”

At which he’s thinking, “Oh, S&*T!!! I should have turned around and looked the other way that night….”
