The leprechaun that tells me to start fires said this guy is nuts.

We’re going to stop bouncing from scene to scene after this page. In fact, I hadn’t originally planned this page at all, but someone had a question about Caera’s actions a few pages back and I thought this would help.

I’m glad I did this page. You’re going to see more of Caera, and I’m glad I have this chance to give you more of her background and motivations. In a comic full of special people, she’s got her own story going on.

↓ Transcript
Wenyan: Caera!
Caera: Go away, Wenyan. I'm not in the mood.
Wenyan: I heard. We're all trying to impress the party leaders, but really -- assassinating a senator?
Caera: I wasn't trying to assassinate her. I wouldn't know how to design a virus to do that. I was just trying to get a gene sample. The security director collects them from politicians. He let slip that he didn't have hers. But when I tried, she moved like the wind. I had to -- I had to see which of us was better.
Wenyan: Your pride will get you in trouble, Caera.
Caera: I know.
Wenyan: I know you know. Yet you keep doing stupid things. I admire that about you. If they kick you out of the diplomatic corps, we could use you in the street militia. Have you heard the rumor? G.U.S. is keeping it quiet, but one of their Genocide Men has gone rogue. Word around the docks is that he's coming here.
Caera: Have you told G.U.S.?
Wenyan: Of course not. They might nuke the city. But if we catch him, they'll give us anything we want.
Caera: Please keep me informed.

  1. Word that he’s “coming here” is probably around all the docks…for G.U.S.,instant thousand ears and eyes…Diamond could get scratched…

I have just read the entire archive of this comic, and I can only say: I want more! Good art, better personages and even better story. Jacob Doe is a bastard with a lot of blood on his hand, but he is also a saddening and sympathic martyr, suffering while killing some to save more people. Of course, I do not believe for a second he has not been genetically modified by the G.U.S., to fight fire with fire.

The most chilling of this webcomic is, that judging by the current developments in genetic engineering, it might be an all too accurate prediction of the future….

  3. “”You cannot post hoc suppress work that was done and completed in a non-classified context,” he says. “The scientific community would not stand for that.” ”
Sometime, in view of the “Global warming” hoax, you’d swear the “scientific community” is made up of a bunch of Dr Mengele or Dr Ishii on an ego trip…

Welcome, P.V.! I’m glad you’re enjoying the story. I wish I could draw more quickly, but I’ll get more to you as fast as I can.

Hey, Eduardo, that’s a great article. I think that’s the first virus that scientists have changed from fluid to airborne transmission. I sometimes worry that the real world is outspeeding the comic’s timeline…
