What is immoral is war itself. Once full-scale war has broken out it can never be humanized or civilized, and if one side attempted to do so it would be most likely to be defeated. That to me is the lesson of Dresden.

All right, that’s enough stage-setting for now.  We’ll be seeing Lola and Kevin again soon enough.  Next week we’re back to Jacob, whose life continues to get stranger.

↓ Transcript
Lola: There's a drone stratocarrier coming over the pole in a few hours. That should give us some eyes on the situation.
Kevin: Yes, that's what I was thinking. Meanwhile, I wanted to talk to you, Lola. Whether we've lost Jacob or not, our numbers are getting very thin. You're retired. I hate going into the field. And Joey...
Lola: Joey is not known for subtlety. I see your point.
Kevin: I'd like to increase our ranks. But I'd need the secretary general's permission. As I recall, he more or less eats out of your hand. Whatever Lola wants...
Lola: Hmn. I'll talk to Stefano. But Kevin, the Genocide Project is a voting member of G.U.S. -- we're effectively a sovereign state. You should learn to use that. Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
Kevin: I hadn't considered that. I'll keep it in mind.
Lola: Yes, do. But make sure that someone's in your corner, just in case. Remember we're just scientists, Kevin. We're not used to taking chances all on our own.
